Tie-breaking rules
If candidates score equal marks, first the percentage in graduation is considered; if that is equal, the percentage in training qualification is considered; if written exam marks, graduation percentage and training percentage are all equal, the older candidate is placed higher.

Normalization: If the exam is held in more than one shift due to a large number of applications, normalized scores will be used for selection, as per the process notified by the Commission (notice dated 26.02.2026). If it is held in a single shift, the marks obtained will be used directly.

Cut-off and marks of candidates will be displayed on the website after the selection process is complete. The exam centre will be assigned at district headquarters; the district of the centre is intimated 10 days before the exam and the centre details 3 days before the exam via the admit card on the website. A candidate who appears at any centre other than the one on the admit card will have the answer sheet cancelled.

8. How to Apply
- Visit the official website www.upessc.up.gov.in and complete One Time Registration (OTR). Applications through any other medium are not accepted.
- Read the user manual / tutorial videos on the website before applying (available in Hindi and English).
- Fill in the online application form in English and select your preference for the two types of schools (Primary Urban and Non-Government Aided Related Primary) – the preference is mandatory and cannot be changed after the last date.
- Upload your signature (white background, JPG/JPEG, 10–200 KB, 140×110 pixels) and passport-size photo (30–300 KB, resolution 300 to 600), and certificates/documents in PDF format (50–500 KB).
- Accept the declaration and pay the exam fee online by 15.10.2026.
- Submit the application and keep at least three printouts for future use (two copies are needed in document verification).

The application will be rejected if the photo and signature of the prescribed size are not uploaded or if the declaration is not accepted. Only the last submitted application is valid if multiple applications are submitted. Date of birth as printed on the High School (or equivalent) certificate is the only valid proof.

10. Reservation & General Instructions
- Benefit of reservation is available only to Uttar Pradesh domicile candidates in the reserved categories; reserved category candidates from outside UP are treated as General. For women candidates, the caste certificate issued in the father’s name is valid.
- EWS candidates are not eligible for reservation benefits if not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh; the EWS certificate must be of the financial year preceding the year of application, in the prescribed format.
- Candidates claiming more than one reservation get only one benefit (whichever is more beneficial).
- A candidate found to have suppressed or wrongly filled information will have the candidacy cancelled and may be debarred from future exams.
- Scribe facility is available for divyang candidates (extra time of 20 minutes per hour); they must register with the Commission one week before the written exam.
- Candidates must carry a black ball point pen; use of other pens, whitener, eraser or blade on the OMR sheet is prohibited.
- No TA/DA is payable to candidates appearing in the exam.
- Candidates who are married to more than one living spouse (or married a person who has a living spouse) are not eligible unless exempted by the Governor.
- Candidates must be medically fit and are required to submit a health certificate before final selection.
- Allotment of schools will be done by the Secretary, U.P. Basic Shiksha Parishad / Director, Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh.
