1. Overview

Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida – an Autonomous Institute under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, established on the lines of SGPGI Lucknow – has invited online applications for direct recruitment to 100 Staff Nurse posts through a Computer Based Test (CBT) Examination-2026.

4. Eligibility Criteria

Persons dismissed by the Union or State Government are not eligible for appointment to any post.

Educational Qualification

Either of the following:

Option A B.Sc. Nursing (4-year course) from an Indian Nursing Council/State Medical Faculty recognised institute/university, OR B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic, 2-year course) from an Indian Nursing Council recognised institute; AND registered as Nurse & Midwife with the State/Indian Nursing Council.
Option B Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (G.N.M.) from an Indian Nursing Council recognised institute/board/council; registered as Nurse & Midwife with the State/Indian Nursing Council; AND two years’ experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after acquiring the qualification.

Reservation benefits (both vertical and horizontal) are available ONLY to permanent residents (domicile) of Uttar Pradesh. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/DFF/Women/Ex-servicemen candidates who are not UP domicile will be treated as Unreserved (UR). 6. Selection Process

Selection is on the basis of:

Stage 2 Biometric and Document Verification
Stage 3 Medical Examination

Medium Bilingual – English & Hindi (English version final in case of dispute)
Question Split 80% theoretical knowledge, 20% practical knowledge
Negative Marking 0.25 mark deducted per wrong answer; no deduction for unattempted questions
Minimum Qualifying Marks General/EWS/OBC: 40% | SC/ST: 35%
Tie-break Older candidate (by date of birth) ranks higher

Syllabus covers Section A (60 questions – Mental Health Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, First Aid/ACLS/BCLS, Applied Microbiology & Infection Control, Child Health Nursing, Nursing Management, Medical & Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, Pathology, etc.), Section B (25 questions – Applied Anatomy/Physiology/Biochemistry, Nutrition & Dietetics, Applied Psychology, Forensic Nursing, National Health Programmes, Nursing Research & Statistics, Geriatric Nursing) and Section C (15 questions – Basic Sciences, Communicative English, Community Health Nursing, Environmental Hygiene, Professional Ethics, Health/Nursing Informatics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology).

8. How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online only via www.gims.ac.in – applications through any other medium will not be accepted. The process involves: (1) Candidate Registration, (2) Filling up form details, (3) Uploading photo, signature and documents, (4) Payment of fees and submission, (5) Printout of the application form. Correction to the submitted application is allowed only once, except for registered mobile number, email ID, Aadhaar number and category, which cannot be changed. No hard copy of the application needs to be posted to the Institute, but candidates should retain a printed copy for their own records.

9. Exam Centers

Candidates may give city preferences from: Delhi/NCR, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. The allotted center will be shown on the hall ticket; if the preferred city has no slots, the nearest city will be allotted. No change of exam center is permitted under any circumstances, and no TA/DA is admissible for attending the test or document verification.

10. General Instructions

Eligibility verification Candidates must fulfil all eligibility criteria by the last date of application; the Institute’s decision on eligibility is final.
DOB proof Only the date of birth recorded on the High School/equivalent certificate is accepted.
OBC/EWS certificate Must be dated on or after 01 April 2026 and valid through the last date of application.
NOC Candidates already in regular government service must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
Misconduct Cheating, indiscipline or misbehaviour in the exam hall leads to cancellation of candidacy and possible debarment from this and future exams.
Jurisdiction All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Gautam Buddha Nagar only.
