5. Eligibility Criteria

5.1 Educational Qualification

• 10+2 pass from a recognised Board or Institution; and
• Certificate in Motor Mechanic from a recognised Institution or ITI with three years’ practical experience in the trade in a reputed workshop, or a three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering.

5.2 Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years as on 27.10.2026, i.e. born not earlier than 28.10.2001 and not later than 27.10.2008. Date of birth recorded in the Matriculation certificate will be accepted; no later change requests will be considered.

• Candidates must not have knock knees, flat foot, varicose veins or squint in the eyes.
• Must be in good mental and bodily health, free from any physical defect likely to interfere with duties.
• Tattoos: Religious symbols/figures and names are permitted, only on the inner aspect of the left forearm or the dorsum of the hands, and smaller than ¼ of that body part. A substantially faded removed tattoo is treated as a scar and reviewed during the medical examination.

9.1 Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

In PST, candidates rejected on height/chest may appeal in writing to the Presiding Officer on the same day for re-measurement, whose decision is final. Underweight/overweight candidates are not debarred at PST; this is decided at the DME.

9.2 Written Examination Pattern

• Objective multiple-choice questions of 12th standard; mode (CBT or OMR) at ITBPF’s discretion.
• Minimum qualifying marks: 35% for Gen/EWS/Ex-servicemen, 33% for SC/OBC (NCL).
• Answer key will be uploaded on the ITBP recruitment website after the exam. No re-evaluation requests will be entertained.

9.3 Practical (Skill) Test

Candidates up to ten times the category-wise vacancies, based on written exam marks, will be called for the Skill Test.

9.4 Merit List and Medical Exam

Category-wise merit lists (UR, SC, OBC-NCL, EWS, Ex-servicemen) are prepared on written exam marks after the Skill Test. There is no reserve list. In a tie, the older candidate ranks higher; if still tied, alphabetical order (English) decides. Shortlisted candidates undergo the DME; those declared unfit may request an RME by signing Annexure-VII within 24 hours. The RME decision is final.

10. How to Apply

1. Visit the ITBPF recruitment website recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in.
2. Create a profile with a genuine, working e-mail ID and mobile number; fill all details such as category and employment status correctly.
3. Fill the online application form for Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) after reading the instructions.
4. Pay Rs. 100 fee online (if applicable).
5. Submit before 27.10.2026, 11:59 PM, and keep a clear printout of the application form.

12. General Instructions

• Mobile phones, calculators, Bluetooth devices and other electronic gadgets are not allowed in the exam hall; possession counts as unfair means.
• No TA/DA is admissible; candidates should come prepared to stay more than one day at the recruitment centre at their own arrangement.
