1. Overview

Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur has invited online applications for the Medical Officer Direct Recruitment Examination 2026 (MODRE-2026) for 600 posts of Medical Officer (Medical) under the Rajasthan Medical Services Rules-1963, for the Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Rajasthan. The recruitment is being conducted by RUHS in compliance with the Government of Rajasthan’s orders No. राजपत्रित/ए टी/प.04/2026/1669 dated 11/08/2026 and राजपत्रित/एटी/प.04/2026/1675 dated 13/08/2026, issued by the Directorate of Medical, Health & Family Welfare Services. 4. Eligibility Criteria

Qualification

Candidates must hold an MBBS degree from a recognised institution. As per Karmik Vibhag notification No. एफ.03(7)डीओपी./ए-।।/97 dated 17/09/99, candidates must have Permanent Registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) by the date of the written examination. Preference in qualifications/experience is given to knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthan’s culture.

If the Permanent RMC registration certificate is not available at the time of filling the online application form, it must be uploaded within 2 days after the date of examination — but its date of issue must still be on or before the date of examination. Foreign Medical Graduates: Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who obtained their primary medical qualification outside India must have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) as per Screening Test Regulations 2002, and must also have obtained Permanent Registration from the Rajasthan Medical Council on or before the date of the MODRE-2026 examination.

Age Limit

Upper age relaxation under Rule 10 of the Rajasthan Medical & Health Service Rules, 1963: male candidates of Rajasthan’s SC/ST/BC/MBC/EBC categories get 5 years’ relaxation; women candidates of these categories get 10 years’ relaxation; and General category women candidates get 5 years’ relaxation. Age is calculated as on 01/01/2027.

5. Application Fee

All candidates have to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹5,000/- (₹2,500/- for Rajasthan’s reserved category candidates). The fee is neither refundable, transferable, nor adjustable for any other recruitment, and is forfeited if a candidate remains absent or is declared ineligible for any reason.

How to pay: The examination fee must be paid only through the online payment gateway (Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking/UPI) during the process of filling the application form. Offline modes such as Cash, Draft, or Bankers Cheque are not permitted.

6. Pay Scale

The selected Medical Officer (Medical) will be placed in Pay Level 14 (₹15,600 – 39,100). During the one-year probation period, the candidate will draw a pay of ₹39,300/- per month, plus a medical allowance of ₹17,400/- per month, totalling approximately ₹56,700/- per month.

7. Scheme of Examination & Syllabus

MODRE-2026 is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination. The examination will be conducted OFFLINE in OMR-based mode, comprising 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each, to be attempted within 2 hours (120 minutes). There is no negative marking. The examination will be conducted only in the English language, and the examination centre will preferably be at Jaipur — though RUHS reserves the right to create additional cities/centres as required.

The syllabus for the examination comprises all the subjects studied by an MBBS graduate during the four-and-a-half-year curriculum, as prescribed by the NMC (National Medical Commission) or the competent authority.

8. How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online only through the RUHS Medical Officer recruitment portal. The online application process is completed in 3 stages:

Candidates will be eligible for issue of an admit card only after completing all 3 stages; incomplete applications will be rejected. Candidates must use an active mobile number and email ID, as these will be used for all communication throughout the recruitment process.

Candidates should be very careful while filling the online application form. If any lapse or incomplete/fake information is detected during scrutiny, the candidature will be rejected — even if the candidate has cleared later stages of the recruitment process. Candidates should keep scanned copies of the following documents ready before starting the application: MBBS mark sheets and degree, internship completion certificate (or a letter from the Principal/Controller of the concerned medical college mentioning the expected date of completion, if internship is still ongoing), PG mark sheet and degree (if applicable), Permanent RMC registration certificate, a recent passport-size photograph, a live photo captured via webcam, signature, and right and left thumb impressions (each 50KB–200KB, JPEG/JPG).
